The McCrory Hair team x
Stylist Vicky Bridge-Tonner from McCrory Hair in Manchester has secured her reputation as one of the UK’s most outstanding hairdressers after being named a finalist in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019.
Capturing the attention of a host of industry judges, Vicky, who works at McCrory Hair on Oxford Road is one of just six stylists in Britain nominated for Salon Stylist of the Year, sponsored by JOICO. The category celebrates the best qualified stylists who work full time in a British salon.
Strong in both technical and relational skills, UK Curl Specialist Vicky stood out for her customer care, extensive product knowledge and commitment to keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends. Interest in training and professional growth was essential too, as was evidence of wider contribution to the salon team, not forgetting glowing client testimonials.
Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said; “To be named a finalist in the Salon Stylist of the Year category confirms just how exceptional Vicky is. Potential winners have to show wide-reaching excellence, effortlessly knowing how to combine technical prowess with a fantastic ability to connect with both customers and their colleagues. The award pinpoints hairdressers who know technique, but who also bring their personality and drive to the table and contribute massively to the overall success of a salon.”
On their success, Vicky Bridge-Tonner says: “I was thrilled to hear that I made the finals! Hairdressing is where I come alive and it’s a joy to meet people all day as well as continually grow in technique. I have the most supportive managers who I owe so much to – they believe in me and this makes me want to do a brilliant job and invest back into the salon. It’s a delight to come to work!”
JOICO sponsors the Salon Stylist of the Year category. Vicky Brown, Business Developer – Henkel Beauty Care Division – JOICO EMEA says: “Receiving a finalist place is a phenomenal feat. Finalists have to be accomplished on so many levels – from being trend savvy, to confidently growing a customer base, to being experts in their craft. And on top of all that, to flow in creativity and be an integral part of the salon. When you have the trust of your employer and are impressing clients every day, it’s an amazing mix!”
HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, now in its 21st year, promote professionalism, innovation and excellence, while recognising those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry and make it vibrant and growing. Currently over 287,000 people work within the hairdressing, barbering and beauty industries*; contributing over £7bn to the UK economy each year. It’s an ever expanding industry too, with over a third of salons in 2018 (41%) noting that their turnover had increased from the previous year.**
