Half Head Highlight

£75 – £95
45 mins

A half head highlight is a targeted colour service that lifts and brightens selected sections through the top and sides for natural-looking dimension. It’s ideal when you want a noticeable refresh without the time or coverage of a full head, keeping regrowth softer and maintenance more predictable.

More information

What a half head highlight delivers

Designed for a clean, blended lift that looks polished in everyday light and photographs.

  • Lightness and contrast through the crown and sides
  • Soft, face-brightening dimension (placement tailored to your parting and styling)
  • A refresh for faded lengths without colouring the whole head
  • A more low maintenance alternative to a full head of highlights
  • Optional toning to refine warmth or add a cooler, creamier finish

When this service is the best fit

Choose a half head highlight if you want to keep your colour looking intentional between bigger appointments, or you prefer a lighter look around the top without full coverage underneath. It works well for busy schedules, and for clients who wear their hair up, half-up, or with a defined parting. If you are after all-over brightness, a full head highlight or a balayage style service may suit you better.

What happens in the appointment

You will start with a quick consultation on your current colour, your goal shade and how you style your hair day to day. Highlights are placed with precision through the top and sides, then processed to the right level of lift. Allow around 45 minutes for the highlighting service; toning and finishing can be booked alongside if needed.

Aftercare and maintenance

To keep the tone clean and the hair feeling good, use a colour-safe shampoo and conditioner and add a weekly nourishing mask. Most people refresh half head highlights every 8 to 12 weeks, depending on contrast and how fast your hair grows. If you want the colour to stay especially glossy or cooler, book a toner or gloss top-up between highlight appointments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between half head and full head highlights?
A half head focuses on the top and sides, where the lightness is most visible. A full head adds highlights throughout, including underneath, for a brighter result overall.
Does a half head highlight include toning?
Toning may be recommended to refine warmth and blend the finish after lifting. If you want a specific tone result, book a toner or gloss alongside your highlight appointment.
How long does a half head highlight take?
The highlighting service is scheduled for around 45 minutes. If you are adding a toner, treatment, cut, or blow dry, you will need extra time.
Is this suitable for curly, textured, or Afro hair?
Yes, highlights can be tailored for curls, coils, and textured patterns with careful placement to enhance shape and definition. Your colour plan should account for curl pattern, porosity, and how you wear your hair most days.
How often should I book a half head highlight?
Many clients book every 8 to 12 weeks to keep the colour looking fresh. If you prefer softer contrast, you may be able to go longer and use a toner or gloss in between.
